Mountaineering and High-Angle Tactical Employment Course
This course is designed to equip soldiers with advanced skills in mountaineering and high-angle movement, enabling them to operate effectively in challenging and varied terrain. Participants will learn essential mountaineering techniques, including ropework proficiency—mastering knot-tying, belaying, and rappelling—while also gaining experience with single-rope and double-rope systems for a range of ascents and descents. Soldiers will also learn how to construct and utilize anchor systems to ensure both safety and tactical advantage in high-angle environments.
In addition to mastering movement, this course emphasizes tactical employment in mountaineering settings. Soldiers will practice tactical movement drills in steep terrain, focusing on how to ascend and descend under combat conditions while managing their equipment and weaponry. The course also covers tactics for engaging adversaries in mountainous terrain, utilizing cover and concealment, and adapting to changing weather conditions. Safety is a key focus throughout, with training on hazard identification, risk mitigation, and emergency response procedures for accidents in high-angle environments. By the end of the course, soldiers will have the skills and confidence to navigate and operate in even the most challenging mountainous terrain.
