As a father of five amazing adventurers I have a simple belief: if you introduce young adventurers to Nature early and often, introduce them to skills, teach them to feel comfortable, and make it fun, then chances are they will grow up to spend more time outdoors than in. This class is set up to be a secret weapon in the fight to get young adventurers to enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, and other outdoor adventurers.
This TSU Kids program is all about opening young adventurers’ eyes to the many ways to enjoy camp life and traveling in the woods.
The TSU kids classes are set up to be totally independent of one another, you do not have to take TSU KIDS 1 to enjoy TSU KIDS 2, but there is an advantage to having the foundation set in part one of the program. If have any questions about which program is best for you please contact me at hutch@thesurvivaluniversity.com
Every class we teach is a little different, we must always adjust to what the mountain gives us, but here are some of the core concepts you can expect to learn from the TSU Kids Joy of Nature class:
As always it is our goal to pass on skills and games that not only make the outdoors safer, but escalate the fun to a level that every car ride home is filled with talk and planning for your next adventure. We intend to teach high level skills in a fun and approachable manner so that your adventurers will be eager to use them whether walking the dog, hiking, camping, or teaching their friends.
This class is set up for anyone who wants to get more out of their time outdoors with kids and help their littles become more interested in camping and other outdoor adventures. This class is set up to be ideal for young kids and their older partners as well as older kids who are starting to seek independence in learning. If this is your first TSU Kids class, have no fear, we always readdress basic techniques and this class can be enjoyed without having taken any other TSU Kids classes
As parents, we have wanted for a while to develop a kid’s program to lay the foundation of safety, learning, and skill for future adventures. The Survival University has teamed up with local teachers, youth leaders, search and rescue teams, and childhood development experts to put together a program that is not only safe and fun, but truly plants the love for outdoors and adventure in the hearts of younger children. The entire TSU KIDS program is based around skills taught through games and stories that your little adventurers are sure to enjoy, remember, and, more importantly, apply when you go out on your own adventures. The curriculum is designed around building confidence and skill should you ever be separated from your little people, but it is delivered in such a way as to let fun trump fear. The emphasis is on getting more out of their time outdoors and enjoying every hike, fishing trip, camp out or even just a stroll through the park. All through history children were using skills we now expect only from the highest trained experts, not because they were in an emergency situation, but simply because they wanted pancakes for breakfast or to play in the woods. It is our most sincere desire to help you return your little adventurer to the skill level of their ancestors and help them take steps towards becoming their own heroes.
