COURSE DESCRIPTION

The 26-Day Wilderness Immersion Program is the first half of our 50-Day summer immersion. This program is designed for those who cannot commit to the full 50 days but still want an accelerated training experience that combines survival skills, navigation, and wilderness medicine. Participants will live in primitive shelters, build confidence in the outdoors, and complete our core summer courses back-to-back with filler and break days to allow for practice and recovery.

This course is the prerequisite for Part 2 of the 50-Day Immersion, which will be offered the following year. Successful completion of Part 1 is required to move forward into the final 24 days of training.

OBJECTIVES

Over the course of 26 days, you will take part in a structured progression of training that blends survival skills, wilderness medicine, and advanced navigation into one seamless experience. This immersion is designed to build your confidence step by step, moving from foundational skills into more complex and demanding challenges.

You will:

  • Develop core survival skills in firecraft, shelter building, water procurement, and food strategies.

  • Train in wilderness medicine and earn a nationally recognized Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.

  • Gain both standard and advanced land navigation abilities using map, compass, and terrain association.

  • Strengthen your resilience through advanced survival scenarios that include primitive tools, long-term shelters, and natural resource use.

  • Apply your training during scenario-based days that challenge your decision-making, adaptability, and leadership under pressure.

Strategic rest and practice days are built into the program to reinforce what you’ve learned, give space for recovery, and ensure that skills become second nature.

WHO THIS PROGRAM IS FOR

Whether you are an outdoor professional seeking nationally recognized medical and navigation credentials, or a beginner who wants to build confidence and competency, this program is designed to fast-track your growth. The intensity of back-to-back courses will leave you stronger, more capable, and more resilient in the wilderness.

LOCATION

The program is held on private land near Cripple Creek, Colorado. We have access to over 5,000 acres across two unique and diverse locations, making us one of the largest survival schools in the world. Training takes place at approximately 9,500 feet elevation, and it often takes students a few days to acclimate.

You will be issued a large tarp to create a temporary shelter and will build a primitive shelter during your time with us. Tents and hammocks are not permitted, as we strive to give you a fully authentic learning experience. Fire pits are provided for cooking, along with firewood and a storage bin in our onsite trailer. A porta-potty is also available on site.

ITINERARY

  • This 26-day program is designed as a progressive path that takes you from core survival skills to advanced techniques, while weaving in medical and navigation training. Rather than stand-alone classes, each phase connects into the next, creating one seamless immersion.

    You will move through:

    • Foundations of Survival – Firecraft, shelters, water sourcing, and food fundamentals.

    • Wilderness Medicine – Intensive training that culminates in a nationally recognized Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification.

    • Navigation Mastery – From basic map-and-compass skills to advanced terrain and night navigation.

    • Intermediate Survival Challenges – Extended scenarios that include long-term shelters, advanced firecraft, food procurement, and natural resource use.

Strategic practice and recovery days are built in, giving you the time to refine skills, internalize techniques, and apply everything in scenario-based training.
