The Gallantry is a 16.25″ combat-ready bushcraft blade inspired by the Filipino Ginunting. Forged from 1075 high carbon steel, it’s built for power, precision, and real-world use. The Gallantry – A Combat-Ready Bushcraft Blade

The Gallantry is the third blade in our Mountainside Mettle Series, a tribute to the Ginunting knife, the official sword of the Philippine Marines. Designed for both bushcraft and combat applications, this 16.25-inch scythe-like blade is forged from 1075 high carbon steel, delivering the perfect balance of durability, precision, and power.

Versatile, Functional, and Built for Action

The Gallantry’s specialized handle ensures a secure grip, whether used for precision cutting, bushcraft tasks, or specialized combat techniques. Its non-sharpened top edge enhances versatility, allowing for controlled chopping and draw knife use without compromising its cutting power. Unlike other modern Ginunting designs, the Gallantry prioritizes comfort, stability, and real-world functionality.

Expert-Driven Design

The Gallantry was developed by Jason Breeden, a veteran knife designer with 30 years of experience, in collaboration with Jason Marsteiner and other instructors from The Survival University. Designed to merge combat efficiency with outdoor practicality, this blade was built for those who demand strength and adaptability in the field.

Rugged Construction & Customizable Sheath

Manufactured by Condor Knife and Tool Company, the Gallantry comes with a Black Kydex & Cordura ambidextrous sheath, featuring two expandable Ferro rod holders (fits 3/8” to 1/2” rods). The sheath is modification-friendly, allowing users to adjust their carry setup to fit their needs.

We’re damn proud of the Spirit Knife—this blade was born from real-world experience and built by people who actually use their gear in the wild, not just talk about it online. That said, The Survival University isn’t a gear company. We don’t have a warehouse. We don’t have a shipping department. What we do have is one guy: the owner and lead instructor, Jason Marsteiner.

Jason personally packs and ships every knife himself… when he’s not out in the field teaching people how not to die in the backcountry. So, if your knife doesn’t ship the same day you order it, just know it’s because he’s probably doing something awesome—like sleeping under a tarp in a snowstorm or running escape drills through the woods.

He’ll get it out to you as soon as humanly possible. Could be a couple days, could be a week. Be patient—it’s worth the wait.
