Description
Not Naked Not Afraid – The 5 Day Survival Experience
Overview:
This is not a vacation. It’s not a guided camping trip. Not Naked, Not Afraid is a five day primal survival experience built to strip you down to what actually matters your skill, mindset, and willpower. This course bridges modern survival with ancestral living. You’ll learn what it truly means to be capable, adaptable, and self reliant when comfort is no longer an option.
You don’t need to be an expert. You don’t even need prior experience. Every skill you need to complete this course will be taught to you along the way. It’s not easy but anyone with the will to learn and the mentality not to quit is capable of finishing. The goal isn’t perfection it’s growth, grit, and rediscovering what you’re truly made of.
Core Principles:
-
Discomfort Builds Capability You’ll face hunger, fatigue, and raw elements by design. The discomfort is the curriculum.
-
Fire is Life Learn the science and art of fire making, from bow drill friction fires to advanced modern tools like the ferrocerium rod, along with fuel management, primitive ignition techniques, and survival fire theory. Mastering fire is mastering survival.
-
Earn Your Food Each participant will receive one rabbit. You’ll learn to process it yourself hands on reconnecting with the reality of where your food comes from. It’s about reverence, responsibility, and gratitude for life itself.
-
Shelter as Survival Construct primitive shelters from natural materials, learning how to stay warm, dry, and protected without modern gear.
-
Water and Sustenance Locate, collect, filter, and manage water using field tested survival methods.
-
Tribe Through Trial You’ll train, suffer, and overcome as a team. The bond that forms under stress is the foundation of real tribe.
-
Return to Nature No phones, no distractions. This is total reconnection raw, unfiltered, and real.
-
Mind Over Panic Build mental stillness and emotional control when things get uncomfortable or uncertain. This is where real survival begins.
Location The Survival Ranch:
This course takes place at The Survival Ranch, a 4,500 acre private property that’s home to some of the most beautiful and wild terrain in Colorado. It’s a bushcrafter’s playground: mountain valleys, pine forests, private swimming holes, and a pristine brown trout stream that winds through the land. Every participant will experience a different side of the Ranch, because each class will choose its own campsite and survival zone.
As a group, we’ll decide where to stay, balancing opportunity with safety, and I’ll guide that decision making process to ensure we’re not setting up in a dangerous area. Every class will be unique. New terrain, new challenges, new tribe. No two experiences will ever be the same.
What to Expect:
-
You’ll sleep outdoors in primitive shelters you build yourself.
-
You’ll use limited gear: a knife, minimal tools, and your own ingenuity.
-
You’ll fast and move learning to work with your body’s limits rather than against them.
-
You’ll cook over open flame, carve, trap, purify, and adapt.
-
You’ll be immersed in the elements day and night I’ll be out there with you the entire time, every night, sharing the same conditions.
-
Your instructor, Tyler Dean Milligan, will begin with only a fire starter, a machete, and a one gallon pot.
-
Each participant will be allowed to bring one qualified item from a curated list of approved survival tools. Even if you don’t have one of those items, there will be extras available to choose from at the course. You’re also welcome to bring personal gear to test its limits in real survival conditions.
-
We will survive as a tribe no one will be left out there alone. We endure, learn, and grow together, side by side, as humans relearning what it means to depend on one another and on nature.
-
Participants can choose to experience the course in minimal ancestral clothing men wearing only shorts, and women wearing appropriate sportswear to fully connect with the raw, primal environment. Footwear is optional. Those who choose to go barefoot and shirtless will experience the environment as our ancestors did. If you prefer, you can wear and test your own gear, but minimal clothing provides the most authentic and transformative experience. The principle is simple: if you can survive without it, you can survive with it.
-
All safety precautions will be taken, and the course will be closely monitored to ensure every participant’s well being throughout the experience.
What You’ll Get Out of It:
-
Unshakable Confidence: You’ll leave knowing that you can survive with almost nothing, and that strength will follow you into every part of your life.
-
Renewed Respect for Food and Life: Processing your own meal changes your perspective forever. You’ll gain a deep appreciation for the cost of sustenance and the sacred exchange of life for life.
-
Gratitude and Presence: When you’ve built your own shelter, started your own fire, and earned your meal, gratitude becomes instinctive. You’ll rediscover appreciation for simple things warmth, water, and community.
-
Mental and Emotional Resilience: You’ll learn how to quiet panic, endure discomfort, and find calm in chaos. The course builds a mental edge that carries far beyond the wilderness.
-
Tribal Connection: You’ll bond with others through shared struggle, laughter, and victory. You’ll remember what real human connection feels like earned through hardship, not convenience.
-
Reconnection to Nature and Self: By the end of these five days, you’ll see nature not as a backdrop, but as home. You’ll walk away grounded, capable, and reminded of who you are when everything unnecessary is stripped away.
This is the course that strips away comfort and reveals your core. No gimmicks, just you, the elements, and five days that will change how you see yourself forever.
