Description

Join Wildkind Academy founder Jess Caldwell in the beautiful mountains of Colorado for a wilderness survival training for teen girls that will help foster courage, confidence & connection.
Teens will learn basic outdoor skills like firecraft, working with knives, water, food and expedient shelter as well as build a resilience kit with some of the essentials needed in the backcountry.
This is a unique campout as not only will the Wildkind Girls receive essential training to build resiliency (we consider this basic human skills 101), but instructor Jess will bring her signature ALIVENESS training to the weekend as survival is more than just the hard skills. We need to feel good in our bodies and tuned in. We need to have a sense of purpose as well as feel deeply connected in community. Nature awareness practices and mindfulness exercises help increase situation awareness as well as build deep listening tools within the body that support a more cohesive relationship with intuition and empowered decision making.
We are living in epic times and we are being asked to rise in conscious leadership to meet this moment. As teens and young women, you innately hold sensitivities, feeling centers and creative portals that will help bridge the widening disconnect between humans and our Divine connection to all that is in the web of life. We are not just witnessing the natural world, we are nature herself. Your voice and your leadership are welcome here and this transformational weekend will inspire you to rise and shine.
We are all navigating a rapidly changing world with modern challenges that exhaust the nervous system and numb our feeling centers. Living in a culture that celebrates consumption and convenience has created communal weaknesses and vulnerabilities to our well-being and long-term survival.  As Earth Walkers who feel the winds of change and can sense the need to gather in community and organize, this 2-night campout is not just skills training but an opportunity to become the change you wish to see in the world.
Our future changemakers need our mentorship and guidance. They need safe spaces to learn and grow while having a great time enjoying the beauty and spaciousness of the outdoors.  We will work with the elements of Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Ether to create tangible practices of enlivenment that can be done anywhere. We will build our resiliency from the inside out while experiencing the sisterhood of care, respect and friendship.

Vehicles can be driven to within approximately 100 feet of the main camp, and there is no requirement to hike gear in over long distances.

Sanitation and Water

Participants should be prepared for backcountry sanitation practices while camping. There is no restroom at the individual camp areas. A restroom is available at the main ranch location, approximately a 5 to 10 minute drive from where participants will be camping.

All participants must bring their own water purification method, as natural water sources will be used during the course and there is no potable water at camp.

Food

Students are responsible for bringing their own food. We recommend simple, field friendly meals such as freeze dried backpacking meals or MRE style options that can be prepared quickly and easily. Students are also welcome to bring food they prefer to cook over a campfire or personal camp stove.

Additional food and supplies can be purchased locally. A grocery store and several dining options are available within a reasonable driving distance.

Course Flexibility

This is a field based course, and conditions such as weather and group experience levels may influence the flow of training. Instruction will always adapt to the environment and the group while maintaining the intent and focus of the course.
