Introducing the Gallantry, the third blade in our Mountainside Mettle Series and a tribute to the formidable Ginunting knife – the official sword of the Philippine Marines. Designed for both outdoor bushcraft and martial arts, the Gallantry features a scythe-like blade crafted from 1075 high carbon steel. This versatile blade, inspired by the combat style PTK, balances outdoor functionality with the prowess needed for decisive combat.
The specialized handle of the Gallantry ensures stability during both bushcraft activities and martial arts, preventing accidental slips during special fighting techniques. The 16.25-inch blade, thoughtfully balanced for optimal swinging, is uniquely versatile with a non-sharpened top edge, allowing adaptability for bushcraft tasks like chopping and draw knife use.
In contrast to other newly designed Ginunting blades that are currently being sold, the Gallantry prioritizes comfort and functionality, providing a secure grip that allows hand position adjustments for strategic strikes. This real-world focus sets the Gallantry apart, ensuring it excels in both hard work and tactical sword fighting, making it a distinctive addition to the Mountainside Mettle Series.
Ruben Rodriguez Jr., the key force behind the Gallantry’s design, brings a unique and invaluable perspective to the crafting process. Trained extensively in martial arts, specifically knife and sword fighting within the PTK combat style, Ruben’s expertise ensures that the Gallantry isn’t just a product of enthusiasm but a carefully honed tool by a practitioner deeply immersed in the field. His firsthand experience in combat styles elevates the Gallantry, making it an authentic and purpose-driven addition to the Mountainside Mettle Series.
Collaborating seamlessly with Ruben are the two Jasons – Jason Marsteiner, owner of The Survival University, and Jason Breeden, our esteemed knife architect. Marsteiner, renowned for his extensive knowledge in wilderness survival, provides valuable insights, while Breeden, drawing from 30 years of manufacturing experience and 25 years of designing for renowned manufacturers in the knife industry, contributes essential expertise. Together, this trio combines practical combat knowledge with wilderness survival and manufacturing proficiency, creating a truly authentic and purpose-driven addition to the Mountainside Mettle Series.
Crafted by the reputable Condor Knife and Tool Company, the Gallantry Knife comes with a Black Kydex and Cardura (Ambidextrous) sheath. What sets it apart are the two Expandable Ferro Rod Holders, accommodating rods with diameters ranging from 3/8” to 1/2”. The Kydex sheath is intentionally designed for modification, recognizing that personal preferences vary.
