Recommended Gear List For Courses
Colorado is a cold weather climate most of the year and with our survival school at 9400 feet, it can get frigid at night, even during the summer....
With the events happening around Coronavirus (covid-19), I have been asked to give an inventory of my Survival Kit or Get Home Bag. I no longer have a Bug Out Bag because honestly, what most people put in their Bug Out Bags is simply impossible to carry. I stopped relying on gear and more on skills and training. That being said, gear makes things easier so I do still carry items in my car or on my body at all times. Here is a list of the pack contents that I put in my vehicle when I leave for longer trips. If I am just running to the store, I rely on my EDC, my whits and my skills.
I carry 2 survival kits in my vehicle. The first has everything that I think is a necessity. I will call it my fast pack and is built so that I can travel quickly and with a minimum load. The second kit, I will simply call my Survival Kit or Get Home Bag. It has all of the extras that will make life easier.
This is my kit. I dont expect you to agree with me. I dont expect everything in my kit to cover all of your needs. Everything in my kit covers my needs. Know yourself. Know your limitations. Know your skills. Know your needs and then build your kit. I know what I need and I know that I could drop the majority of the stuff in this kit and still survive but it wouldn't be easy or fun. I prefer easy!
I also carry 2 car kits but I will not go into those kits in this list. One of these kits has vehicle items that would help me repair my vehicle. The other has extra food, water and misc "survival items" to outfit others should they need it.
The list below details only the items my previously mentioned kits, that I would grab if I were to abandon my vehicle somewhere. The car kits I would stash near my vehicle or just leave there if I had to get away fast.
I did not build these kits because of COVID-19. I have had them for years. I use them all the time. I train with them all the time. I know every item in the kit intimately and I know how to use every item. I am also Wilderness First Responder trained so I know how to use everything in my Trauma Kit.
